Meet the Indie Gardeners!

I am from Austin, Texas, currently living in Houston, Tx. I am a bookkeeper, barista, student, photographer, and now blogger! Since moving to Houston, I have felt overdosed with the concrete jungle. Don't get me wrong, Houston has it's perks, but I am a greenery kind of gal. Each time I go home to Austin, I bask in the smells of the cedar and wisteria that were such a nuisance to my allergies when I lived there. Now, I'll take a sniffly nose and a headache here and there to enjoy it all.

Anyway, I am married (newly!) to my main man of 5 years. We have moved around from apartment to apartment over the past years, and I have recently been aching for a backyard to grow vegetables in. The urge is especially strong when I go home, where my mom has become Austin's pioneer woman in farming with her Community Supported Agriculture- Natural Springs Garden, in Austin's Hill Country. I had picked her brain a bit about how I could start my own compost heap on my patio. Then, with a compost heap, you have to have plants to make use of that beautiful soil it produces, right? The idea blossomed from there! I decided to transform our third floor, 10 x 4 foot balcony into a garden! I will be potting tomatoes, using hanging planters, building window boxes... anything to make use of the space we have. Join me!
